How to Choose Best Mobile for You

Mobile - once a pride to have is now the most essential part of our life. If you are breathing, there lies a fair chance that you must be carrying a mobile. It is every kids dream to own one and every boyfriend's to throw one. On a serious note, with so many handsets, networks and tariffs on the market, choosing a new mobile phone is a massive task or is it really ?

Which brings me to the point, if we really know what we need out of our mobile then buying a mobile is less tougher. One thing that we all need to mirror our minds to is "WE CAN NOT GET ALL QUALITIES/FEATURES IN ONE MOBILE". The day we get used to this line, we will find our way to desired mobile quicker.

With mobile prices starting from INR 1000 to INR Thousands and stretching as far as INR Lacs there are plenty to choices. Also, daily updation of technology makes us think twice to buya mobile now or wait for a few weeks and then buy latest. It is said (from a boy's view - w.r.t mobile and girl) "had i waited a litlle longer, i would have got a better one" but thats about it. If we keep waiting, we shall keep waiting.

Now, lets look for few things which will help us in buying a right mobile for us.

1. Price

The most most important consideration for 90-95% of us is price. We need to freeze a price range ... say 10-12k. or 25-30k and then begin our search, it will make our task of finding the apt mobile a lot easier. It is more suited if we compare mobiles within their price segment and not out of it. We cant compare a color phone with 2MP camera to a high end Samsung, Nokia or Apple, will be sheer wastage of time and energy.

2. Text or Call

We all have our favorite and cheaper choice of communication, for some it could be all about SMS and for others it could be just Calls. Depending on the cheaper plan available at their network and their preferred choice to communicate. This leads us to choosing the mobile which matches our style of communicating for e.g. if you are a bulk textor then a QWERTY phone for you will be the best, touch phones might not be for you and if you are big time caller, your friends call you call center, you should check out for impressive battery back up of the phone you are opting for.

3.Techonlogy

As the day ends and next day rises, a new technology is itching to make way to market and finally, in our hands. What we got to look for is whats the best available technology in the price range freezed by us and zero in at it and technology doesn't limit to checking which OS phone supports - Android, Windows, Bada, Symbian etc but which processor (latest in the market is 1.4 Ghz), battery capacity (over 1000 mAh is considered good), latest features - bluetooth, wifi, 3G, Front camera, flash, doc reader etc etc

4. Purpose

One thing is for sure, you can not buy a right mobile for you unless you dont know what purpose it is to serve you. Mobile these days serve every purpose you can ask from a mobile but what is that one core purpose for which you will be using mobile. Is it Business? Gaming,Apps and Music? or just few calls and text and thats about it. For business users, mobiles offering EDGE, E-Mail Push service are the first things to look forward too, Blackberry are champions of this arena. For gaming, apps and music, a mobile that supports high grpahic resolution, good audio quality and well spread and known Operating system (OS) will seal the deal.

To go along with these four main check points, a phone's look is also very important esp when you are shelling out a high sum, do keep that in mind too. Happy mobile Hunting ! :)

Emotional Atyachaar: Pre-Paid

This is a real story of a happy go lucky guy "Bittoo" and a vivacious girl "Pinki" (names changed).

Bittoo and Pinki were two strangers like any other young one in the crowd until one day they met on a social networking site. Chatting began and soon they graduated to become good online friends.

Day, nights and months passed by, contacts exchanged and friendship post-graduated. Amidst the period when friendship was at its peak, one night Bittoo receives a call at midnight, girl on the other end without any greetings started to ask why wasnt he talking to him? Why was he not calling her? Confused, he first thought that he had received call from a friend whom he had not contacted for sometime now. After he realised it wasnt her, he then thought it was a prank call from any of his friends to tickle him.

Talking to her for little more than dozen minutes, he realised that all his thoughts had gone for a toss and it was a wrong number. It was in favour of both to let fer know that it was the wrong person she had dialled to and he let her know. But to his surprise, the girl on call wasn't ready to accept it thinking the guy is still avoiding him. The boy wanting to get rid of that girl, got angry on her asking her to not call back and hung up the phone.

The very next morning, the same girl calls him again from some other number. Bittoo, lets that girl know that it was genuinely a wrong number and that girl needs to understand this. Gal refuses to accept again. Bittoo re-thinks that he could have been right, somebody might b really playing a big prank on him.So, tries to play a game on that gal and agrees that he was the same guy she had been looking for and had been lieing to the girl all this while in order to avoid her. While conversing, Bittoo cleverly finds out that the gals name was Shilpa.

Meanwhile bittoo and pinki s friendship was stronger than ever. Bittoo lets pinki know of the doubtful prank call he got.

One Week Later

Over this week, Bittoo and Shilpa stay connected via calls and texts. Shilpa's growing confidence on him concerned Bittoo. The situation was getting complex, confusing and awkward. As the game Bittoo planned wasn't working well, he decided to confront Shilpa and clear the air once for all.

Next morning, he calls Shilpa and lets her know that he wasnt the same guy and the entire story that he had planned. The gal then on counter questioning believed him finally and wanted to know who this guy actually was, and the guy not wanting to reveal him fakes his name to be Mohan.

The matter settled .........................  or may be not. They say your past comes to haunt you, when you least expect it.

2 Months Later
2 months down the line, Bittoo and Pinki realised that they had crossed the saturation point of friendship and since the feeling was mutual, they decided to enter into a relationship. Bittoo proposes Pinki, heavens moment, and the lives were never the same. They began live each other's life more than their own. Their were no two ways about where this relationship was heading for, until .......

1 Month Later

One rainy evening Pinki calls Bittoo and asks ... Who is Mohan? Bittoo couldnt recollect in what context was she asking and refuses to know any Bittoo in pure innocence. But as they, if you can convince your girlfriend, you can achieve anything in thing in this world. On the other hand, gals very well know that guys leave no stone unturned in fooling them.

The questioning carried further and the rain cloud burst could be felt in Bittoo life. She wanted all answers as to why the hell did he entertain Shilpa for so long and not clear her misunderstanding in the beginning itself? Why did he not tell her about all this? Why he told her that he did not know any mohan?

He felt raided. Bittoo had answers to all questions but needed somebody to calmly listen to them. What shocked Bittoo was, how the hell she knows about using the fake name Mohan and the entire story? This question was killing him but dare he had the courage to pop this question up while he was being raided.

Answers were given, as one can guess... they ended up being unsatisfactory. Pinki felt cheated, even if this happened before they entered into this relationship.

Bittoo, finally dared to pop the question terribly wanting to know how did she know all? Pinki replied to his amaze, she told him that Shilpa was her ex college friend and by mistake shilpa had taken his number from her mobile thinking of it to be some other common friends number (as Pinki had saved it with some other name) and when Pinki told Shilpa about her relationship and stuff, Shilpa sees a message of his in her mobile and recognises the name and number that she had taken. The rest is history.

Bittoo felt like all the elements of universe had conspired a trap against him and fell in it on face. However, Pinki and Bittoo managed to clear mis-understanding and continued the once dented relationship.

An Effort towards a better “Bharat” – Pragati Pathik

An Effort towards a better “Bharat” – Pragati Pathik

In today’s time where our materialistic needs have divorced the being human element in human beings, where are politicians may or may not keep their promises of a better India. Fortunately, we still have very few  people/organizations who work for the people, for the society, for the country.
They function via NGOs. NGO is non-profit making organization, which works for the welfare of others. All the colossal effort is put in so that our Bharat can graduate from the tag of developing country to a developed one. One such NGO is “Pragati Pathik”, who has been shaping others dream for very stretched time.

Let’s know more about Pragati Pathik

Pragati Pathik has been delivering free motivational workshops and camps across Bharat. All this is being done so that every individual, esp. the youth, becomes successful in life. A successful youth is the biggest asset for the country.

Some of the people oriented objectives of this NGO are –

1. To run FREE PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS.
2. To run FREE BASIC COMPUTER TRAINING CENTRE.
3. To run National Awareness campaigns and organize events to uphold the glory of our mother land.
4. To motivate individuals towards eye donation.

The continuous dedicated hard work of people behind this mission has been yielding stupendous results, to list a few of their ever aggregating achievements

1     Organised FREE workshops and camps at various places across Delhi and educate children on what REAL Success is.
2.   Till date they have transformed more than 10,000 lives of youth and are working for our target of 1,00,000 youth (by Sept.2012).
3.   Conducting events and two events are permanent every year
a) HOLI MILAN – in the month of March to inculcate the spirit of brotherhood
b) EK SHAM DESH BHAKTO KE NAAM to spread the spirit of patriotism.

4.      Having launched eye donation trust called DEKHO-RE and have motivated more than 3000 people in pledging to donate eyes after death.

Conducting their workshops in corporates, schools, residential areas including backward areas aims to make new generation understand what the real meaning of Success is, it is not a destination, it is a continuous process and what all qualities are required to become a successful person, how important is discipline and Character for becoming a successful person, how Positive Thinking contributes in becoming a person to be successful.

Pragati Pathik also believes –
1.    Six Essential Qualities That Are The Key To Success: Sincerity, Personal Integrity, Humility, Courtesy, Wisdom, Charity.
2.    Many of life's failures are of people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
3.    Individual glory is insignificant when compared to achieving victory as a team

When one sees such high quality effort being put in by few people so that thousands or more importantly our “Bharat” can have a better tomorrow is just remarkable. If we can pledge to spare some time for our country, for our fellow citizens from our hectic life, probably the most satisfying thing for our soul.

3 Crazy Ideas that made Millions/Crores

Is it said, necessity is the mother of invention. Sometimes, you may not need a necessity for an invention ESP when it's a crazy crazy one. Some inventions/ideas change our lives forever like bulb, a medicine or as simple as a telephone.

I came across some wonderful innovations/ideas that may not change our lives but will make you believe that "nothing is impossible" and if your crazy brain assists you in earning millions out of it .. Cloud 9!

Let me take you through 3,simple yet unique, such ideas -

1. Singing Fish
If you passed by a fish that could sing, you would b amazed and surely will stop by to believe what you just heard. The idea brought to life by Novelty toy company is USA. They fitted motion sensors in fish's head and tail connected to a music player in her stomach.

Now, as soon as someone walked by that fish, it's motion sensors would detect making head and tail of the fish to move like a natural one and the song recorded in music player would start playing.

This innovative toy caught everyone's attention and became a rage making toy company rich, richer, richest.

2. The Snuggie
We all love winters, the cozy days but imagine you sitting in your warm blanket sipping coffee, the real trouble is to move hand in and out of the blanket to catch up with your beverage or TV remote. A blanket manufacturing company came out with a weird solution, a blanket that could be worn like a normal dress fitting into arms with your hands free named "Snuggie". Agree, nothing exceptional about this new thing .. but was the need of every common man, esp those putting up in cold areas.

In couple of years of its release in market, the Snuggies got sold like fresh hotdogs. Reportedly, selling more than 2 crore snuggies in one year alone. The Snuggies became so popular that later on they were then made for pets too. Amazing !

3. Pet Rock
Now, a rock is not an invention or an idea, it so commonly found around every house in world. The deal was the idea to present it in as many ways as they possible to decorate and market " A Rock". Be it, putting eyes to the rock, placing one rock over another or painting them to look different and colorful.

The idea came from the brain of Mr. Gary Dahl, who worked as a marketing/advertising executive before this idea. Post this, he was owner of a multi-millionaire company.

These ideas, weird crazy inventions, yet again prove that making money is not just about working hard long hours. Its more so about putting brain to work and "Doing something Out of the Box"

India's 4-0 Test series Loss : Street Cricket Show at Display

Indian cricket Team's extremely poor show on England soil in the recently concluded four match test series has sparked of the debate, if this is the start of the end of the Indian team's short lived dominance in Test cricket or rather International cricket. Packed schedule has been the punching bag when it comes to reasoning the India's street cricket show.

This whitewash was the first test series loss for Dhoni in an otherwise glorious captaincy career that has seen him lead India to a string of Tests wins, the World Twenty20 and the 50-over World Cup on home soil.

Expectations
The expectations from the team that stars likes of Sachin, Rahul, Laxman,Dhoni were huge and no reason why they shouldnt be. New coach in the form of Duncan Fletcher, who is an Englishman, was signed just after the world cup ended. Being an English coach lot many inputs ans special tips were expected from him for this tour.

Positives but Few
Though we saw some good individual performances from Dhoni, Sachin, Mishra but they were too few and never came collectively. Our bowling was made to look like a school team bowling attack. None of the bowlers had the zing, pace or consistency to put English batsmen under pressure.

Not Hungry Enough
It seemed as if the hunger within the team was not there and if it existed, not much, not much at all.Cricket is more than a religion in this country and its no rocket science to expect some not so praising comments from the public.

Rahul Dravid
Rahul Dravid among several players admitted that they had been outplayed by some margin in all forms of the game in all the matches. He was the only player to who wheathered the english storm, the only person who looked in form and it can be said that the wall of India is still rock solid. Rightly chosen, India's man of the series. Three hundereds in four test matches is some achievement.

Just hoping that this one of series, where Indian team had a collective team failure and will be back with bang and follow the line that Saurav ganguly left the team with "Fight fire with Fire".

Riots, Terrorism and Humanity

City on fire, people running for lives, thousands of policemen on streets, army being deployed, PM of the nation calling an emergency, welcome to a place that's been hit by a terrorist attack or a riot.

Title of this blog may sound a little abrupt, as to how is humanity connected to riots and terrorism? I say, it is indeed connected but the other way around, fading of humanism in a mix of nerves, skeleton and blood called human being. A sad and sorry state to hear, see and accept.

Jealousy and Anger are embedded in human nature, says a study. I second it. So unfortunate are the results of this study but very practical and true. In this fast paced, hectic and tension filled life, people have forgotten to act themselves, be nice, they just act nice.

Terrorism and Riots are different when it comes to dictionary meaning but results are virtually same - destruction, loss of lives creating bad aura all around. Both are dreaded nightmares for a common man for whom a simple life (simple job, simple living, family) is what he longs to live by.

Recent case of Mumbai terrorist attacks and London riots are perfect example of loss of humanity in the world we call ours. Resultant images are what shall not leave human memory. Reasons may be different for both acts, result the same.

Post these instances of killing of human mankind, life may not change for many people but spare a thought for whom life will never be the same. Homes, Shops, Offices burning in fire, for someone it could be his entire life's investment, for someone it could be a dream that just came to life.

Blaming the government or playing the blame game will never ever solve the problem. A little patience, a little less anger, frustration and jealousy and a smile. Most importantly, choosing a better method to convey your feelings and demands can probably if not solve, attempt to solve such instances.

Will end with a note that GOD left for us - killing of one innocent person is killing of entire mankind.

In Deep Waters ..

Water 3/4th the earth, 2 molecules of oxygen in every particle .. still when in deep waters, we strive for oxygen, actually natural airy oxygen because that is what is essential for survival. Such is sometimes in life when you are alive striving for natural motivation. Things start to go wrong, nothing seems right. Everything seems so gloomy. Finding motivation is like searching for water in desert, that too when you are most thirsty.

This period acts like a sieve that filters friends, separates great buddies from good ones. Great ones understand you, no matter what. Good ones try to.

It is said- fall seven times, rise up eight. But when you rise for the eight time, are you still so fit to run miles? are you determined enough to face adversity again? and similar questions are what choke your mind. Heart though has no complexities, it stays with "yes" to both questions and the likes of it.

Optimism is a hard hard word to sink in but is the need of the hour. They say, survival of the fittest and optimism keeps you fit. Music is great friend and healer, probably the only thing that works no matter the situation.

Have faith in God, have faith in self and Get Set Go ................ All the best !!!

Roger Federer breaks Djokovic’s Unbeaten Run

In a match that lasted close to 4 hours, Swiss maestro held upper hand at the end defeating the Serbian 7-6, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 to reach the finals of the Roland Garros.

One could see the old Roger back and the Roger forehand was flowing with ease. He produced a performance from top draw and one to remember for a long long time. Clay has not been his forte but his performance never made one feel like so.

Semi- Final at Roland Garros between Roger Federer (3) vs Novak Djokovic (2) was always going to be a titanic match and it proved out to be one with class of short making from both players. Few games went as far as 6-7 duece each.

Roger had not been in best of form lately and on the other hand Novak was on a 42 match unbeaten run.

Fireworks began from the first set as both players started to unleash their weapons, it went into tie-break and Roger won the hard fought set 7/6(7-5).

Roger then went to race past his counter part winning second set with ease 6/3. The Serbian then came back strongly in the third set to get better of Roger winning third set with same score. Fourth set saw both players holding their serves and it also went into tie break which ended in favour of the swiss.

My CA Industrial Training Experience at GE

Articleship, an immensely important part of CA Curriculum which spans for about 3 years gives CA Students an opportunity to spend the last 9-12 months in the industry, get exposure of the world you will be entering post qualification.
I made such opportunity count and got transferred to Industrial training, in General Electric (GE), pending last 9 months of my Articleship. GE is the World’s 3rd largest Company as per Rankings released by Forbes.

How to get into Industrial Training?

Getting into industrial training is not a tough job, its just you got to do a little homework. Companies intending to hire industrial trainees put up requirement advertisement on the notice board at ICAI Office. Moreover, you can also directly apply to Companies as many Companies prefer to keep trainees. Finally, you can make your references count. It is a known fact that applying to companies through reference gives you a slight edge over the others.

My CA Industrial Training Experience

GE 150x150 My CA Industrial Training Experience at GETo begin with, its all together a different world and work as compared to CA firms. GE being a MNC company had its own Work Ethics, Culture, Jargon etc which I wasn’t accustomed to, so had to equip myself with it as soon as possible.
Like any good MNC, you are allowed to settle in after joining and get used to company’s working style, post which you are allocated a designated work and expected to complete it within reasonable time. The Team I worked with was gracious enough to pay heed to whatever difficulties I faced during completion of work I was entrusted upon.
In GE, there was a set rule to work in finance department – “Excel is Blood and Power Point is Oxygen”. To grow big in GE or for that matter in any MNC, these two are must haves in your kitty.
There were times when I worked for 12-15 hours a day for weeks but it has its fun, Learning by Doing was an all together different experience. Always remember – Time you spend in your initial days in a Company is an Investment which you are making on yourself so never shy away from giving more than your 100%.

Work Profile

On joining, I was not put into operations straight away instead I was given a reputed project called “Dashboard” for which I was single point responsibility (SPR). Dashboard is mechanism where a company tracks its Key Performance Areas.
While working at GE, I realised that everything done at operational level was done in Excel and everything that was to be reported was done in Power Point. Each worksheet had went across 100 rows and 15 columns, this is how heavily loaded an excel sheet was and hence important to know Excel Formulae, Linking and Shortcuts.
After having successfully completing the project, I was introduced to hardcore operations where in I had to assist two managers at same time, one put me into Service Tax Work and the other on Loans & Advances.
I was also made to work on the applicability of US-GAAP on GE and my job was to prepare Foreign Currency Translation Reconciliations which were a mandate owing to compliance of US GAAP and Securities Exchange Commission (SEC). I learnt a few other things as well but majorly I was made to work on the above mentioned things for the rest of tenure.

Examination Leaves

When I joined GE, I was awaiting the result of both groups of CA Final that I had appeared for. I managed to clear one group and for re-appearing in the second group, they gave me a month s examination leave. Most companies give 1 month leave; rest it all depends on how your performance has been during your Industrial Training Tenure.
