India's 4-0 Test series Loss : Street Cricket Show at Display

August 23, 2011

Indian cricket Team's extremely poor show on England soil in the recently concluded four match test series has sparked of the debate, if this is the start of the end of the Indian team's short lived dominance in Test cricket or rather International cricket. Packed schedule has been the punching bag when it comes to reasoning the India's street cricket show.

This whitewash was the first test series loss for Dhoni in an otherwise glorious captaincy career that has seen him lead India to a string of Tests wins, the World Twenty20 and the 50-over World Cup on home soil.

Expectations
The expectations from the team that stars likes of Sachin, Rahul, Laxman,Dhoni were huge and no reason why they shouldnt be. New coach in the form of Duncan Fletcher, who is an Englishman, was signed just after the world cup ended. Being an English coach lot many inputs ans special tips were expected from him for this tour.

Positives but Few
Though we saw some good individual performances from Dhoni, Sachin, Mishra but they were too few and never came collectively. Our bowling was made to look like a school team bowling attack. None of the bowlers had the zing, pace or consistency to put English batsmen under pressure.

Not Hungry Enough
It seemed as if the hunger within the team was not there and if it existed, not much, not much at all.Cricket is more than a religion in this country and its no rocket science to expect some not so praising comments from the public.

Rahul Dravid
Rahul Dravid among several players admitted that they had been outplayed by some margin in all forms of the game in all the matches. He was the only player to who wheathered the english storm, the only person who looked in form and it can be said that the wall of India is still rock solid. Rightly chosen, India's man of the series. Three hundereds in four test matches is some achievement.

Just hoping that this one of series, where Indian team had a collective team failure and will be back with bang and follow the line that Saurav ganguly left the team with "Fight fire with Fire".

  1. It seems that the Indian Cricket Team is also supporting Anna Hazare

Till the time Govt does not accept Anna's demands, the Indian Cricket Team has also decided that it will also be on strike and will not win any cricket match :P
